All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go

Posted March 11th, 2012 by Todd

Read to roll out!So I was supposed to go to a meeting at another FOB this morning.  I was standing next to the lead vehicle, waiting for the convoy brief, when one of my fellow passengers walked by…in PT gear.  I asked if he was coming with us and he informed me that the mission had been cancelled.

Apparently President Karzai was going to be touring the same area we were supposed to go look at, so we got “rescheduled.”  Not sure when or if it will happen, but for now, I am here on a typical Sunday.  I was snowing earlier today, and it’s supposed to snow again tonight.  Rumor has it there is some warmer weather behind the storm.

Funny thing is, in the 60 seconds it took me to walk from my office to the SP area, I passed quite a few people that I have come to know.  Later on in the morning, when they still saw me, they were a little confused.  “I thought you were going out today?”  Was a fairly common phrase.

I answered that I wasn’t really going out, I just like to dress up in my gear every so often and look tough.  The response I got was (very similiar to what you are all thinking now, I’m sure), stick with what you know…

Well, I know that there have been a few more questions, not many, but enough to warrant another FAQ post.  I may wind up putting them all together on a page, eventually, but for now, I’ll do another post.  If you have any questions that I have not answered already, let me know and I will include them, ok?
