The Babies Are Gone

Those two baby boys, now men in their own right will be leaving the nest soon, just the the two babies right outside my window.

When I moved in, I had a new neighbor who was already living here:

My first neighbor, my new friend

Soon after I moved in, my new friend hatched babies:

The Babies

I watched them grow up, chirp when they were hungry, shiver when they were cold. I watch mom feed them and warm them. Then one day, just like that, they were gone! I went to make my coffee and noticed mom was once again by herself.

The babies grew up so fast.

It’s symbolic in a way. My own babies are about to leave the nest. It seems like only yesterday, I was carrying a boy on each hip. Now, the two men will be heading off college and striking out on there own. My princess will still be around, so our next won’t be completely empty. Still, those two baby boys, now men in their own right will be leaving the nest soon, just the the two babies right outside my window.
